Name requirements
to register a company in the UAE
The company name in Dubai consists of 3 parts: Unique name + type of activity + company form
for example: SKY HOUSE SHOE TRADING L.L.C
SHOE TRADING - type of activity "shoe trading"
SKY HOUSE is a unique name
LLC is a form of the company "LLC"
⚠️ It is not allowed to register two companies with the same name and the same type of activity. If the names are the same, but the types of activities are different, then it is allowed.
- The abbreviation in the name can be at least 3 letters long.
- The name should not contain obscene or indecent words and should not be offensive to the general public. Even if it's a personal name.
- The name should not refer to the name of Allah, "God" or His divine attributes.
- A person's name can be used in a company name only if that person is a partner/license holder. In this case, you can not use only the last name, the first name and last name must be indicated.
- The name should not be the name of a country or government. You can't use the words Dubai, Emirates.
- The name should not contain or refer to any of the restricted names, such as global political organizations, religious sects (for example, the FBI, mafia, etc.)
- The name should not include punctuation marks, symbols, etc., such as (@%$., /).
- The trade name cannot begin with the words "international" "Middle Eastern" "global", etc.
- The name must not match the name of any of the brands operating in the Emirate of Dubai, or government projects or brand names. Example (Emaar - Kentucky.... etc.).
⚠️ DET (Dubai Economic and Tourism) has the right to refuse to register a business name if the new trade name has been found to be similar to another existing one or does not meet the specified requirements.
